Silly Epic Season 2013

Wyn Testing Epic Fireworks May 2013

Silly season (as we affectionately refer to Bonfire Night) is almost upon us again and the goodies are already winging their way to us from China.

The first container is due to arrive later this week (26th July 2013) and is holding some of my favourite things, rocket volleys. Some may think that they are a waste of time and money but in my opinion, the effects are EPIC.

Last year, as some of you who despite calling in your order early, missed out on these brilliant rocket volleys due to stocks being taken up very quickly indeed. This year, we hope to make hundreds happier as we bring in an additional five hundred of each.

It has been a year of change in many respects. The year started with Jimmy and Paul off on their usual trip to China to see what was on offer and decide whether it was going to be feasible to ensure that we had all the products we needed for this season and check out some for next year as unfortunately, due to the introduction of the new CE marking, the registration and importation of new products is quite long and laborious and as such we could not bring them in for the 2013 season.

In late January, Jimmy became a grandfather for the first time to a beautiful little boy who could melt the heart of anyone with his chunky chops and yummy little legs.

Back over to China in May to see how things were progressing after the Chinese New Year celebrations had come to an end and manufacturing back on track it was all hands to the pumps. We made sure that all the items were tested and any issues addressed before we left for the UK. Now, all we can do was wait for news of their arrival.

A busy couple of months with the turn in the weather as more and more people buy fireworks to celebrate with family and friends at their barbecue and of course, wedding season is in full swing with orders daily for upcoming celebrations.

Then sadly, we moved into June which was met with the loss of Bruce the German Shepherd dog who was part of the Epic team throughout his all too short 12-year life. He passed peacefully in his bed, surrounded by his toys. It is difficult under any circumstances to lose a beloved pet but even more so when you have spent 24 hours a day with him since birth. His loss will be felt by all who knew him. Rest in peace old friend xxx

Into July, Jimmy toddled off again to China just to ensure that the goodies are ready to hit the waves on the South China seas and back into the UK in time for his youngest son’s wedding, Dr Singh and his fiancée, who is also a Doctor had absolutely beautiful weather to enjoy their day.

Now, we just have to wait with bated breath for the delivery schedules for all the containers coming in this year and await the heaving throngs from all over the country looking for the best quality in pyro at the most competitive pricing around. If you are having a Bonfire Night celebration this year and want to have the chance to put on a display to remember, give us a call and we will certainly try to meet your budget needs.

We open 7-days a week and are conveniently based just a couple of minutes away from Junction 36 of the M1. Pop along, have a cuppa and a chat.
