Tickets Going On Sale for London’s New Year’s Eve 2024 Fireworks Display

London’s world-famous New Year’s Eve fireworks display is back, and the first batch of tickets is up for grabs. Whether you’re a seasoned New Year’s reveller or fancy trying something new this year, here's everything you need to know about getting your hands on tickets, where you’ll be watching the fireworks, and how to plan your night out in the capital.

Tickets: How to Get Yours

The first wave of tickets for the Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks goes on sale at midday on Friday 18 October. But don’t panic if you miss out—another batch will be released in December, though the exact date is yet to be confirmed, we'll be sure to tell you once it's announced so stay tuned..

If you’re a Londoner, you’re in luck! You’ll be able to snap up tickets at last year’s prices, saving £15 compared to those living outside the capital. But even if you’re not from London, the display is well worth the price tag with tickets range from £20 to £50 depending on the viewing area.

Important note: You’ll need a ticket to get into the viewing areas, no exceptions. Don’t be tempted by dodgy ticket resellers—only tickets bought from the official outlet, Ticketmaster, will be accepted.

Viewing Areas: Where You’ll Be Standing

There are six different ticketed viewing areas, each with its own unique vantage point. So, if you want a prime spot to see those midnight explosions, choose wisely.

  • Blue Area: From Westminster Bridge to Golden Jubilee Footbridge along Victoria Embankment.
  • Red Area: From Golden Jubilee Footbridge to Temple Avenue.
  • Pink Area: This gives you access to Waterloo Bridge, offering a bird's-eye view.
  • Green Area: Just behind the London Eye, perfect for getting up close to the action.
  • White Area: The iconic Westminster Bridge, with views of both the fireworks and the London skyline.
  • Orange Area: The accessible viewing area on Albert Embankment (riverside of St Thomas’s Hospital), designed for those with access needs or those wanting to avoid the crowds.

Remember, you won’t be able to switch between viewing areas on the night, so if you’re heading out with friends, make sure you all book tickets for the same area. Gates are open for each area from 8:00pm to 10:30pm, so plan your arrival time accordingly.

Travelling To and From the Event: Plan Ahead

As you can imagine, central London will be heaving on New Year’s Eve, and transport is bound to be chaotic. When you buy your tickets, think carefully about how you'll get to your viewing area and how you’ll get home after the event. For instance, bridges like Westminster and Waterloo will be closed before and after the event, so be sure you’re on the right side of the river for your journey home.

Public transport will be busy when the event ends, and roads around central London will close from 8pm, so if you’re driving, you’ll need to factor this in. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive and be prepared to walk a bit from the nearest stations.

Accessible Viewing: The Orange Area

For those with access needs, the Orange viewing area at Albert Embankment is your best bet. While it’s got a side-on view of the fireworks, it’s still an excellent option, and you’ll have a clear line of sight to all the action.

The area is close to a vehicle drop-off point (about 700m away), and there are accessible toilets and a Mobiloo unit with a hoist and changing table. You can even bring fold-up chairs if you fancy watching the display in comfort.

Safety First: What You Need to Know

After the issues at last year's event, The Mayor’s office is pulling out all the stops to make sure this year’s event is as safe as it is spectacular. With a range of partner agencies like the Met Police, TfL, and local authorities working together, everything from crowd control to emergency services will be on hand to ensure everyone has a great NYE.

A word of warning: Don’t try to bring your own fireworks or sparklers into the event—it’s a strictly no-go area for private displays. Stick to the event rules, enjoy the show, and leave the pyrotechnics to the pros.

A Great Cause: Supporting TAP London

This year, you’ll also have the chance to give back while celebrating. TAP London, a charity that supports homeless Londoners, will be accepting donations during the event and at the point of buying your ticket. It’s a small gesture that could make a big difference to those in need, so if you can spare a few quid do give them a donation.

Can’t Get a Ticket? There Are Still Options

As tickets sell out every year, you’ll need to move fast. But if you miss out or fancy something a bit more low-key, don’t worry—there are still plenty of places around London where you can catch a glimpse of the fireworks without paying for a ticket.
