Join the Celebrations: The D-Day Festival in Normandy

As June approaches, the shores of Normandy will come alive with a packed schedule of celebration marking the 80th anniversary of the historic events of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. From Pegasus Bridge to Sainte-Mère-Eglise, the entire coastline hosts the D-Day Festival, offering over 100 events and promising an unforgettable experience.

What to Expect

Parachuting, parades, concerts, historical re-enactments, fireworks, exhibitions, and projections are just some of the highlights of the festival. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of the region while commemorating the Allied landings on the 6th of June, 1944.

On the 1st of June, 22 huge firework displays will simultaneously light up the sky over the five iconic Landing Beaches, including Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach, and Sword Beach. These synchronised displays promise a breathtaking spectacle.

A notable installation at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, 'Standing with Giants', pays homage to the 1,475 fatalities under British command on D-Day. This poignant art installation serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the historic event.

Dates and Details

The D-Day Festival extends from Pegasus Bridge to Sainte-Mère-Eglise, with events happening in Ouistreham, Arromanches, Pointe du Hoc, and other significant locations. Festivities continue until the 15th of October, ensuring ample opportunities for you to get involved in the celebrations.
