Handel's Royal Fireworks Music in Liverpool

THE commissioning of a modern equivalent of Handel's Royal Fireworks and Water Music along the banks of the Mersey, or on a barge mid-river: just another of the imaginative ideas ignored by the Culture Company last year.

To mark the 250th anniversary of Handel's death last Tuesday, the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra provides the gesture (repeated tonight) of playing through the extended Royal Fireworks Overture.
