Fireworks at Thanksgiving

Although we all know that fireworks have always been a 4th July MUST have for many, the Thanksgiving Holiday is a much more staid affair but are there still fireworks to be found?

The Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is dedicated to ensuring the preservation of the history of RMS Titanic and the White Star Line.

The now infamous Titanic which sank on 15th April 1912 after hitting an iceberg on its maiden voyage suffered the loss of more than 1500 lives and it continues to be described as one of the worst maritime disasters in modern history.

The wreck of the RMS titanic still remains at the bottom of the sea approximately 375 miles to the South of Newfoundland. There have been some salvage operations and thousands of priceless artefacts recovered from the wreckage are on display in museums around the World.

The Titanic Museum Attraction houses a replica of the now famous staircase with the clock at the top of the first set of stairs which is the site now of any number of romantic wedding proposals and marriage ceremonies annually.

On the evening of the disaster of course they needed to signal other ships to advise of their predicament and officers in charge at the time were ordered to fire distress rockets. They were said to be ‘high white cluster bursts’ which could be seen up to 10-15 miles away.

They continue to hold a fireworks display to kick off the 2013 holiday season by honouring the lives and legacies of the crew and passengers who lost their lives and is the biggest firework event of the year in the region.
