WHY: OUTDOOR ART EVENT FEATURING FIREWORKS
WHERE: BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVER MERSEY
WHEN: 1 – 9TH NOVEMBER 2019 (FIREWORKS ON SUNDAY 3RD NOVEMBER 2019)

Either side of the very busy River Mersey will be glittering with firework effects this year as the River of Light Festival 2019 takes place. The area will be transformed with light, beautiful colour, sound and light before crowds of tens of thousands.

This year, the event will also unveil ten very different commissioned art installations which will be on display around the River Mersey and the docks.

This is the 3rd consecutive year of the holding of this magical event and it, of course, offers you the chance to get outdoors.

The jaw-dropping firework finale on Sunday 3rd November 2019, will once again be handled by the team from Titanium Fireworks who are best known for their London NYE spectacular which is televised around the World.

Although some of the artworks will not be revealed until the event takes place, particularly those which are interactive, here is a list of some of the titles of the installations around Liverpool’s beautiful City:

  • GLOBALSOPE
  • FLIGHT
  • SPIDERS
  • WHOLE HOLE
  • CETUS
  • RUN BEYOND
  • INTRUDE
  • SUBMERGENCE

They will be all over so pop onto their dedicated website for details of the artists and how to locate them.

It is a great place to eat out as well with numerous top-class restaurants dotted around the Riverside area:

LUNYALITA - Spanish/Mediterranean Fayre

Great tapas, cheese and bread selections, olives, cured meats and lots of fish and vegetable dishes. Reviews indicate that it is inexpensive and delicious so pop along to show your support.

OH ME OH MY - British ‘afternoon tea’ specialists

Created to be a little like a Parisian Riverside Café with unlimited loose tea refills and a lovely selection of deliciously fresh cakes and pastries including strawberry shortbread, chocolate pots and of course the ubiquitous scones with fresh cream and jam and finger sandwiches. Certainly the place to go for a delicious treat.

CARGO SEAFOOD - European fish and seafood restaurant and grill

Seafood is a speciality of Cargo and they cook fish caught daily, so the menu, particularly the specials board (catch of the day), often features sardines, herring, and other succulent delights.

The fish menu is naturally long and luscious including seabass, fresh prawns and lobster, calamari and delicious fresh Scottish mussels. Also, in a nod to his cultural beginnings, the chef includes chicken kebab (like a souvlaki) and a slow-cooked lamb kleftiko.

There is little free nowadays so this is your opportunity to enjoy some of the best professional fireworks around along with great outdoor art with family and friends.
