Worthing Lions Summer Festival 2025: Seaside Thrills, Classic Wheels and a Firework Finish
Sussex’s favourite summer weekender is back. Worthing seafront is getting the full summer makeover on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July 2025, as the Worthing Lions Summer Festival returns with its winning mix of old-school charm, community spirit and just the right amount of noise.
There’ll be classics on wheels, stalls on the prom, music in the air and a pier-end firework display to finish Saturday night with a bang (a very loud, very bright bang).
It’s all completely free to attend, thanks to the hard work of the Worthing Lions — but don’t be shy with your spare change. Every donation goes towards supporting local causes.
Here’s what’s in store for 2025.
Saturday 26th July – Vintage Machines, Seafront Markets and the Big Firework Blowout
The Saturday schedule is a full-on feast for the senses, kicking off at 10am and keeping the energy high right through until the fireworks fly.
-
Classic Cars and Scooters at Steyne Gardens (10am–5pm): Petrolheads, prepare yourselves — over a hundred lovingly restored motors, vintage scooters and BSA Bantams are rolling in. Expect polished chrome, the occasional puff of nostalgia, and owners happy to chat about their pride and joy.
-
Seafront Market on the Promenade (10am–10:30pm): An all-day sprawl of stalls selling everything from handmade crafts to clothes, trinkets, gifts and more. Food vendors and a licensed bar are on hand, so you can browse with a burger and a pint.
-
Tombola (10am–4pm): Small stakes, big prizes, and all for a good cause. You’d be daft not to have a go.
-
Stevens Funfair near the pier: Spinning rides, sugary snacks and the sound of joy mixed with mild terror — a summer fair done right.
-
10pm Fireworks from the Pier: Once the sun dips, the sky’s taking over. The fireworks are launched from the end of the pier and they’re completely free to watch. If you’re into colour, crackle and a proper crowd “ooh”, you won’t want to miss it.
Sunday 27th July – Muscle Cars, Market Vibes and a Very Chilled Day Two
Sunday dials down the volume a notch but keeps the vibes going strong.
-
American Cars, Pickups and Custom Builds take over Steyne Gardens (9am–5pm): Chrome beasts and roaring engines as far as the eye can see. Expect a show full of stars, stripes, and serious horsepower.
-
Seafront Market Returns (10am–4pm): Didn’t grab that hand-stitched cushion or artisan chilli sauce on Saturday? Now’s your second chance.
-
Tombola continues: Because you’re statistically more likely to win something if you try again. Probably.
-
Bar and food stalls keep the energy up for another day, so you can sink into your Sunday with a cold drink and something grilled.
Please note: The vintage bus rally won’t be returning in 2025 — but there’s more than enough horsepower to make up for it.
Location & Travel
The whole thing takes place across Worthing Seafront and Steyne Gardens. Whether you’re popping down for the day or making a weekend of it, Worthing’s easy to get to.
-
By train: Regular services from London, Brighton and Portsmouth. From the station, it’s a short stroll to the action.
-
By car: Follow the A27 or A24 into town. Parking’s available but fills up fast, especially on firework night.
-
By bus or bike: Local buses drop you close to the seafront. Plenty of cycle paths if you’re pedalling in.
Why It Matters – and Why You Should Chip In
The Worthing Lions don’t just throw a great party — they raise serious money for local causes while they’re at it. Over the years, they’ve raised more than £720,000 for the community. Not bad for a group of volunteers and a few tombola tickets.
So if you enjoy the festival (and you will), drop a few coins in a bucket, buy some raffle tickets, or just tell your mates and turn up in numbers.
