The Best Spots to Watch Manchester's New Year's Eve Fireworks

Manchester's main council New Year's Eve firework display is back this year, for the first time since 2019.

As well as the main display there will be plenty of firework action across the city thanks to private displays. So, if you're getting ready to welcome in the New Year in Manchester, here are some of the best places to go to get great atmosphere and great views across the city.

Castlefield Bowl: Historic Setting

Located in the heart of Manchester, Castlefield Bowl is the location for the Manchester's official display. The location offers a mix of history and modernity, making it an ideal spot for New Year's Eve and the canal-side location and historic backdrop provide a charming setting.

The family-friendly event will be free and has a capacity of 10,000 people, all on a first-come, first-served basis.

So, make sure you get there early to secure a good spot, and at midnight, you'll have a clear view of fireworks reflecting off the calm waters of the canal.

Celebrations will start at 10pm and will include a live DJ set from Hits Radio DJ Jordan Lee. This will be an alcohol-free event, bag searches will be in operationand officials have asked for people to not bring bags that are bigger than A4 in size.

Piccadilly Gardens: City Celebration

Piccadilly Gardens hosted last year's official free countdown to 2023 with family friendly spaces and entertainment, as well as plenty for the adults and the kid-free to do.

Currently there's no news on anything happening in this area of the city on New Years Eve, but as a central and popular space in the city there's bound to be people celebrating there at the stroke of midnight.

Oxford Road: Student Celebrations

Oxford Road, the heart of Manchester's student district, provides a youthful atmosphere for New Year's Eve. Join the crowd of students and locals lining the streets for a good view of the fireworks. Grab a takeaway from nearby eateries and soak in the spirited ambiance of this dynamic area.

Heaton Park: Natural Amphitheatre

For a more relaxed setting, Heaton Park offers a natural amphitheatre for a clear view of the fireworks across the city. The expansive green space is perfect for families and friends to spread out picnic blankets. The distant glow of the city skyline against the night sky creates a captivating backdrop for fireworks displays, making Heaton Park a hidden gem for New Year's Eve in Manchester.

For a modern and cosmopolitan setting, head to First Street for New Year's Eve. This vibrant district boasts trendy bars, restaurants, and cultural spaces, offering a sleek backdrop for the fireworks display.
