TURRIFF FIREWORKS 2018
WHAT: TURRIFF FIREWORKS 2018
WHY: CHARITY EVENT FEATURING FIREWORKS
WHEN: 17TH 19TH AND 20TH OCTOBER 2018
WHERE: TURRIFF, ABERDEENSHIRE
COST: FREE (BUT THE EVENT DEPENDS ON CHARITABLE DONATIONS SO DIG DEEP)
The event was established almost 30 years ago in support of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s Urological Cancer care (UCAN) to raise much needed funds for this and other charitable organisations around the Aberdeenshire area.
The fireworks and the organisation of the event are wholly funded via sponsorship from the local business community, so all money goes to charity.
Attended by thousands of people this multi media show features fireworks, specialist lighting effects, music and narration bringing together Alan Hilary events, A son-et-lumiere and Reaction Fireworks. The results are beautiful and often very emotional.
The town of Turriff was established more than 900 years ago and the site referred to as Temple Brae is said to have been one of the early bases for the knights templar and it is now home to around 5000 residents.
There are beautiful places to stay, whether just for a few days midweek or a well deserved weekend getaway. Prices for accommodation (Hotels, B&B or guesthouses) range from around £30 – 120 per night and most include breakfast.
Out and about there are plenty of things to see and do in this picturesque area in the highlands. There are whisky tours for the lovers of the golden nectar which enjoy fame across the world as the home of some of the finest single malt or indeed blends in Scotland. There are world class golf courses with some of the most challenging holes (the Clivet) which is on the cliff top and you will need all your concentration and balance to stay in place whilst you put this in the hole.
There are puffin cruises and of course being in the wilds of Scotland, you will see peregrine falcon, kestrel, and a plethora of other birdlife as well as deer, foxes, and the hare.
Eating out here is said to be one of life’s greatest pleasures with a huge range of traditional restaurants and bistros with excellent fish and local seafood on offer as well as the usual smattering of café and coffee shops there to provide you with that relaxing afternoon tea.
Get along if you are looking for something to do in mid-October and support a fabulous charity whilst enjoying some first rate FIREWORKS.
