The Return of the Christchurch Rotary Fireworks Display

The Return of the Christchurch Rotary Fireworks Display

We are thrilled to announce that Christchurch Rotary’s much-loved fireworks and bonfire display is making a triumphant return this year.

After a hiatus, this popular event will light up the sky once again on 2nd November at the Grange School in Somerford, thanks to the generous support of Twynham Learning.

For decades, the Christchurch Rotary Fireworks display has been a highlight for the local community, bringing together families and friends to enjoy a spectacular evening. Unfortunately, the event faced several setbacks in recent years. It was previously held at Stanpit recreation ground until the discovery of methane gas forced BCP Council to close the site for events. Additionally, bad weather led to the cancellation in 2019, and the Covid lockdown prevented the 2020 event from taking place. But that's now all on the past and the return of the event is a cause for celebration.

Christchurch Rotary president Peter Boardman expressed his excitement: “We are thrilled to have this hugely beneficial event back on the calendar. The bonfire and fireworks event has been a cherished tradition for decades, and we can’t wait to welcome back all those who have enjoyed it in the past.” His enthusiasm is shared by the community, eager to revive the spirit of this event.

The successful revival of the fireworks display is largely due to the support from Twynham Learning. Gareth Morris, chief executive of Twynham Learning, stated, “We are honoured to be involved in an event that brings so much joy and benefit to the wider Christchurch community. The Grange School is proud to support Christchurch Rotary and their efforts to continue this beloved tradition.” This partnership ensures that the event not only returns but does so with a renewed sense of community spirit and engagement.
