Strathclyde Country Park Fireworks

The Last Firework

MUSIC, colour and light will explode at Strathclyde Country Park this weekend as Scotland's National Firework Competition rockets into action.

About 20,000 people are expected to turn out on Sunday to watch as three professional firework companies battle it out for the title of Scottish National Firework Champion 2009.

The winners will then go on to compete in next August's British Fireworks Championships.

As well as the fireworks, Radio Clyde will be hosting two stages featuring performances from a number of live acts, including 2008 X Factor finalist Laura White and tribute act The Kitty KatDolls.

There will also be pipe bands, a fun fair, food stalls and The Wee Willie Winkie fun walk will also take place, with cash going to the St Andrew's Hospice. Participants should wear their pyjamas.

The free spectacular event starts at 2.30pm, with the blue touch-paper being lit at 7.30pm.
