What Makes The World Firework Championships Special?

Each show is meticulously choreographed to music, with every burst and flare timed to perfection. This combination of sight and sound creates an immersive experience that captivates audiences and keeps them coming back year after year.

The event’s location also adds to its magic. Blackpool, with its iconic Tower and famous Illuminations, provides the perfect backdrop for these stunning displays. Watching the fireworks reflect off the sea is a truly unforgettable experience.

And then there’s the competition itself. With teams from around the world bringing their A-game, each display is a unique expression of the culture, creativity, and technical skill of its creators. Whether it’s the precision of the Polish team, the innovative effects from Finland, or the dramatic storytelling from the USA, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.

Where and When to Watch

The fireworks are set to be launched from the beach right in front of the iconic Blackpool Tower. The best viewing spots will be along Central Promenade, from Central Pier to North Pier, where you’ll have an unobstructed view of the different displays.

Build-up starts from 7:30pm each evening, with the fireworks set to begin around 8:30pm. Given the popularity of this event, it’s wise to arrive early. There’s usually heavy traffic, so consider parking in the southern car parks and hopping on the tramway to get to the Tower Festival Headland. Alternatively, public transport via trains and buses is a good option.

A Double Dose of Blackpool Magic

What makes the World Firework Championships in Blackpool even more special is that they coincide with the start of the famous Blackpool Illuminations. This means you can enjoy not just the world-class fireworks but also the incredible light displays that stretch along the promenade. It’s a two-for-one experience and the best bit is that both the firework displays and the illuminations are completely free to enjoy.
