Spaldington's Music in the Park is Back!

Spaldington's Music in the Park is Back!

After more than a decade since it was last held, Music in the Park in Spaldington is back on the calendar and is set for Saturday, 3rd August 2024.

The evening promises to be a memorable night filled with Proms-inspired music, delightful picnics, and a huge fireworks finale.

Hosted at The Old Hall in Spaldington, this event is also a major fundraiser for Cure Parkinson’s and aims to bring people together for a noble cause.

The Story Behind Spaldington's Music in the Park

Last held more than 10 years ago, Music in the Park will raise funds for Cure Parkinson’s, a charity dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

The event, founded by Ann Marie and David Jackson began in 2002 after Ann Marie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Since it's launch it has raised nearly £100,000 for Parkinson’s research and this year, the event is organised by Sara Jackson, daughter of Ann and David,

What's On at Music in the Park

The evening's entertainment will kick off at 6:30pm with a performance by the Beverley and District Pipe Band.

This will be followed by a foreword from Mike Tindall MBE and an official opening by the Rt Hon Sir David Davis.

Opera singer Florence Taylor will then lead a night of music, joined by the Collectives Gospel Choir and the Hornbrokers Brass Band.

The Grand Finale concert will feature classical music inspired by the Last Night of the Proms, plus there will be a grand auction and raffle, lighting of the beacon, and a spectacular fireworks finale set to the 1812 Overture.

Performances Include:

  • Florence Taylor: A talented mezzo-soprano, singing a variety of pieces from opera to musical theatre with special guest The Yorkshire Tenor (Jake Walsh) joining Florence.
  • Collectives Gospel Choir: A five-piece ensemble delivering soul-stirring gospel music.
  • The Hornbrokers Brass Band: Bringing an explosive fusion of funk, soul, pop music, wartime classics, and New Orleans Jazz.

The evening will culminate in a Proms-inspired grand finale and a stunning firework display. The event will continue with an after-party from 11pm to midnight hosted by rock band The Rockets.
