As we face some of the hottest weather the UK has seen in many years, thoughts of Autumn and cool evenings fill the mind as this also herald’s Southport’s fabulous firework championships.
The British Musical Firework Championships is one of the most fiercely competed for in the UK event calendar as it brings together some of the finest exponents of the art of pyrotechnics to battle it out in the sky over this stunning seaside town.
There will be over 10 tonnes of pyrotechnics which will be linked by a staggering 5km of cabling and will take teams of up to 15 technicians to set up the displays.

Each team will produce a 16-18 minute display, choregraphed to a pre-approved list of music and will be judged by a specialist panel from within the fireworks and entertainment industry.
There will be concessions on site, but you are very welcome to take along your own food and beverages.
Out and about there are numerous really good quality little eateries:
SAMSARA THAI – This is a busy, but efficiently run, establishment serving everything from dishes powerfully spiced with chilli to mild yet fragrant tasty dishes. Make sure you book to be sure of getting a table.
BISTRO 21 – Just off Lord Street, the main road through Southport. With an excellent choice of tasting, A-la-carte or Table D’hote menus the food is freshly prepared and choices range from fish to steak and Thai to Moroccan.
BISTRO VERITE – this lovely little French-inspired bistro has a reasonably priced menu with food of a standard which would compete with any top end restaurant.
CHESHIRE LINES INN – cheap eats of the very best quality. Their speciality is a fish platter with HUGE chunky homemade chips that are simply gorgeous.
