Southend's Firework Displays 2024: Everything You Need to Know

Southend's Firework Displays 2024: Everything You Need to Know

Fancy eight weeks of free fireworks in Southend this autumn? Well, you’re in luck! Every Saturday from September 28 to November 16, 2024, Southend’s seafront will be lit up with a brilliant fireworks display, all set to music. Whether you’re catching it from Sea-Life Adventure or grabbing a spot near Genting Casino, the views are absolutely cracking. And best of all? It won’t cost you a penny.

To top it off, the final event on November 16 coincides with the Southend Christmas lights switch-on, so you’re in for a double whammy of festive fun.

Best Places to Watch the Southend Fireworks

The fireworks are launched from a barge out in the Estuary, just east of Southend Pier, so you’ll get a great view from most spots along the seafront. From Sea-Life Adventure all the way to Genting Casino, you’ll have a front-row seat for the action.

When Do the Fireworks Start?

The fireworks kick off at 8:00 pm sharp and go on until 8:15 pm. That’s around 15 minutes of non-stop, eye-popping action every Saturday from September 28 to November 16, 2024.

Parking?

If you’re heading down, get there early—trust us, the seafront car parks fill up fast. If you’re not one for queues, the city centre car parks are only a short walk from the seafront, and you’ll save yourself a bit of hassle.

What Else is There to Do?

If you’re heading down early (or need something to do while you wait for the traffic to clear afterward), Southend’s got plenty to keep you entertained. You’ve got the Seafront Arcade for all your 2p machine needs, Kingpins Bowl if you fancy showing off your bowling skills, and Escape Live if you’re up for a bit of puzzle-solving action. Feeling competitive? Head to Boom Battle Bar for a bit of AR axe-throwing (yes, really). Or if you’re more into relaxing, take a swing at Adventure Golf or go wild at Adventure Island.

Save the Date for the Big Finale

Now, as much fun as the weekly shows are, you don’t want to miss the grand finale on November 16th. Why? Because it’s not just the last fireworks display – it’s also the big Christmas lights switch-on. So, you get to see the sky light up, and then boom – the whole town’s twinkling with festive cheer. Two birds, one stone. It’s practically a Southend tradition at this point.

So there you have it. Eight weeks of free fireworks, a great atmosphere, and plenty of things to do before and after. Whether you’re a local or just popping down for the night, Southend’s got you covered. Just remember to wrap up warm and maybe leave the car at home – because after all, you can’t beat a good stroll by the sea, especially with a bag of chips in hand.
