Then, you could take the cliff lift up to the high street where you can try to spot a bargain in the array of shops. The adrenaline junkies are also sorted as you can visit the amusement park; Adventure Island which has rollercoasters, pirate ships, waterslides and a big wheel plus much more for all ages and sizes.

As darkness draws in, make your way over to City Beach where the skies are lit up each evening on the Saturday around 7:30pm in an abundance of colour, sound and effects as for the finale of the day everyone is a spectacular display of around 1,700 fireworks are launched from barges situated just East of the pier.

The best viewing place for the fireworks is from City beach and it is advised to get there early as the event attracts thousands of visitors just for the fireworks display each year.

Along with the free fireworks display, other events will run alongside as the Purple Festival takes place with bands, duos, and soloists performing on special stages set up on the seafront and in the town centre. The events will run from 2pm to 9pm on the 6th of October and you won’t be able to miss them as they are bathed in the colour purple lights also along with this the lighting columns will be turned purple to coincide with the festival’s theme.

On the 16TH November, the fireworks will be particularly special as they will coincide with the town centre’s special Christmas light switch on.

There are plenty of places to park for the event with Seaway carpark a minute away and Fairgreens over by the SeaLife adventure centre. Car parking is also available in the town centre, if you fancy a walk-through town park at Beecroft Gallery or Civic Centre, both in Victoria Avenue. Another way to travel is to park at Leigh station and get the train in.

Take in the seaside during the offseason and get your pyro fix early this October half-term.
