Rotary to take over fireworks display
LEDBURY Rotary Club has stepped in to save the town’s annual bonfire night celebrations, one of the biggest and most popular events in its calendar.
The event, which has been running for 35 years, has always been organised by Ledbury Round Table, which closed last week after 50 years due to dwindling membership.
The Rotary Club met this week to discuss taking over the fireworks event and there was unanimous support for the idea.
Member Neal Farr explained: “The fireworks are one of the biggest events in Ledbury’s calendar and it provides entertainment for a lot of people but also raises some money for good causes.
“We are very sad that the Round Table has come to an end but are glad that we have been able to take on this event. We will be looking for support from the public for the event.
“They have given it excellent support in the past and we look forward to that continuing.”
The Rotary Club has taken on the Round Table’s existing fund for the event.
