This year sees 80’s Rewind Scotland enter their 6th year and it just continues to grow year on year. The line-up of acts is exceptional with reminders of our misspent youth in the 80’s (at least I can honestly say that I was there and saw some of these acts in their younger days):

• STATUS QUO
• OMD (ORCHESTRAL MANOEUVERS IN THE DARK)
• BONNIE TYLER
• THE GYPSY KINGS
• HEAVEN 17
• PETER HOOK AND THE LIGHT (FORMERLY JOY DIVISION BASS PLAYER)
• A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS
• TIFFANY
• HOWARD JONES
• WENDY JAMES (TRANSVISION VAMP)
• MIDGE URE (ULTRAVOX)
• BOOMTOWN RATS

These are just the headliners and there will be local musicians and singers in the mix too throughout the weekend.

There will be the following:

• FOOD
• THEMED BARS
• DJ’S
• STREET ENTERTAINMENT
• FUNFAIRS
• SILENT DISCO (WHERE YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC ON HEADPHONES AND DANCE TO YOUR OWN BEAT!)
• KIDZONE CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT AREA
• FIREWORKS – FANTASTIC FIREWORKS (SCOTTISH DIVISION)

The event will take place throughout the weekend at Scone Palace which has a rich history in the region. The Palace is acknowledged as one of Scotland’s most important stately homes. Its Neo-Gothic design has captured the hearts of many as today it has given over one of its wings to 5-star accommodation for visitors to enjoy staying in absolute luxury sleeping in rooms once used by Kings and Queens. The Palace was home to Mary, Queen of Scots whilst she awaited execution. Whilst there she created ‘The Catte’ a piece of embroidery featuring a large ginger cat playing with a mouse which was purported to have represented Queen Elizabeth I and the mouse which was to represent herself in the battle for supremacy.

Robert the Bruce (1306) and Charles II (1651) were both crowned at Scone on the Stone of Destiny which is now housed in Edinburgh Castle. The Palace houses a substantial horde of art and collectibles including clocks, pottery and porcelain and a library housing works of national historical interest.

The gardens boast beautifully manicured lawns and raised borders as well as a wild garden and woodland which has some 250-year-old fir trees.

There are numerous things to do and see in and around Perth including Nature reserves, historical buildings parks and gardens etc and some are even FREE (yep, Nowt!) like the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, Dundee’s International Centre for Contemporary Arts or just have a walk and take in the breath-taking scenery which has been the inspiration for film and TV production over the years, even gaining it an award as one of the best places in the world for filming. This summer sees the region playing host to makers of the next Star Wars film which will be shot in Argyll and the surrounding Glens.

A beautiful place, a fantastic line up of entertainment, good food and drink available and of course the Scottish hospitality combined to make this one add to your list of must-do festivals for this year and of course, featuring fireworks, it has to be good.
