WHY: INTERNATIONAL PYROTECHNIC COMPETITION
WHERE: OLYMPIC STADIUM, MAIFELD, BERLIN
WHEN: 30TH AND 31ST AUGUST 2019

The skies over Germany’s fabulous Olympic Stadium in Berlin has been the centre for this wonderful firework competition since 2006 and continues to thrill audiences from across the region over this two-day spectacular.

The competition comprises of an obligatory and a freestyle programme. In the case of the obligatory programme, the competitors with doing this without sound and using specific colour combinations, but the freestyle is choregraphed to music and the colour selections is down to the competing team.

In this event the voting takes place from two angles; the Jury of a selection of men and women from the entertainments and pyro community and the gathered audience. There were three teams on each day which started with the pre-determined display and then moved onto their choregraphed selection.

The elaborate and breath-taking event ‘Best of Six’ has the six teams competing over the two-day period before the audience voting takes place. During this a special ‘fire-show’ entertained the crowd by Flash Art; a specialist live arts entertainment group who work worldwide creating memories.

Last year’s award winners were:

  • HERON FIREWORKS – NETHERLANDS
  • POTSDAMMER FIREWORKS – GERMANY
  • ORION ART - RUSSIA

Competing this year were:

  • SLOVENIA – HAMEX
  • MEXICO – MARTARELLO RAMOS
  • SUREX – POLAND
  • NETHERLANDS – HERON FIREWORKS
  • ROMANIA – PYRO EVENTS
  • NORWAY – NORTH STAR FIREWORKS

The competition was fierce with a great showing from all the competitors but the overall winner with a beautiful show with precision firing and great choreography was Surex from Poland.
