Held on one of the most beautiful coastlines in Belgium the Ostend fireworks festival will be lighting up the skies for over 8 weeks in July and August.

Fireworks may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word festival, but be assured, this is one of the summer highlights that every one awaits in Ostend. With the event being free making it even better for everyone to get their summer pyro fix.

Attracting thousands of visitors each year eight Belgium pyro specialists battle it out against each other in front of not only the audience but a panel of judges hoping to get their hands on the 1^st prize trophy.

The fireworks will be fired on all from the Groot Strand between the Kursaal and Venetian Galleries with the exception of the finale on the 15^th August where it takes place from the beach at the Mariakerke Beach Square.

Voting is from 11pm on the evening of the fireworks to 11 am the following day.

The schedule is as follows:

MONDAY 8^TH JULY – LPL FIREWORKS – PIROTECHNIE LIEGEOISE – 23:00

MONDAY 15^TH JULY – CBF FIREWORKS – GERAARDSBERGEN – 23:00

SUNDAY 21^ST JULY – DBK FIREWORKS – MERKSEM – 23:00

MONDAY 22^ND JULY – VANGELABBEEK EVENTS – LANAKEN – 23:00

MONDAY 29^TH JULY – T&T FIREWORKS – LUMEN – 23:00

MONDAY 5^TH AUGUST – PARTY FICES – NAMUR – 22:30

MONDAY 12^TH AUGUST – AMBIANCE FETES (FESTY PARTY) – 22:30

THURSDAY 15^TH AUGUST – L’ETINCELLE – HUY – 22:30 (Mariakerke Beach)

** PLEASE NOTE FIREWORKS ON 15^TH AUGUST WILL BE FIRED FROM MARIAKERKE BEACH**

The jury will decide the winner taking in different factors such as duration, the construction and rhythm, the originality and the use of colours to establish its classification. They will also choose the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd prize and the public also get in on the voting by deciding who wins the spectators prize.

The city has plenty to offer with something for all the family to do and it’s a perfect way to get your summer pyro fix in so make sure that you place the dates in your diaries.
