Morpeth Ice Festival heating up

BETTER weather has brought the crowds out today for the Morpeth Ice Festival

Organisers the Greater Morpeth Development Trust were disappointed by the turn-out yesterday when bitterly cold winds kept people away and only a handful of supporters turned out to see rock bands perform in the early evening.

But today the wind has dropped, allowing a giant inflatable toboggan slide to be erected, and children and parents have been turning up to use the artificial ice rink set up on a tennis court in Carlisle Park.

There has been more support for the rock stage too. Fable's Last Stand will be on at 3.30pm, followed by The Steels at 5.30pm and Sound Ex at 7pm.

The event ends with a fireworks display at 8.15pm.
