MORE FIREWORK SHOWS FEATURE IN JAPAN
Tokyo's neighbour Saitama is set to host three stunning fireworks shows this summer. Don't miss these free festivals this July and August, held in Saitama City, just approximatley an hour from central Tokyo.
As summer progresses, Tokyo's late rainy season provides a very unique backdrop for fireworks. While Tokyo itself boasts numerous firework festivals, Saitama offers a more relaxed yet quintessentially Japanese summer experience, without the busy bustling crowds.
Saitama City Fireworks at Owada Park - The first of the Saitama city run fireworks festivals will take place at Owada Park on Sunday 28th July at 7:30pm. Located about an hour from Shinjuku Station, the spacious park ensures great views from almost anywhere. For the best vantage points, consider purchasing tickets for the adjacent baseball stadium and pool parking lot, which go on sale on the 2nd July.
Saitama City Fireworks at Omagi Park - The second event is at Omagi Park, just a seven-minute walk from Higashi-Urawa Station and under 50 minutes by train from Shinjuku Station. Scheduled for Saturday 10th August at 7:30pm, details of this year’s display are yet to be released. However, last year’s event featured over 5000 professional firework shells launched over an hour, promising a spectacular show.
Saitama City Fireworks at Iwatsuki Culture Park - The final pyrotechnics show is at Iwatsuki Culture Park on Saturday, 17th August at 7:30pm. This venue is the most remote, requiring about an hour and fifteen minutes by train and bus from Shinjuku Station. The journey is well worthwhile, as you’ll be treated to a mesmerising display of over 3000 firework shells amidst serene natural surroundings.
These Saitama City fireworks festivals offer a perfect opportunity to enjoy traditional Japanese summer festivities in a more tranquil setting. Mark your calendars and experience the magic of summer fireworks in Saitama.
