Manchester fireworks, New Years Eve 2010 / 2011

The city centre of Manchester is about to explode with fireworks for the New Year celebrations on Friday Night.

The best place to be to see the fireworks is Hardman Square next to the Spinningfields big screen. The launch area is Quay House over on Quay Street and the fireworks will fill the sky on the stroke of midnight. Don’t be late, this is a display that is guaranteed to go off on time.

"As well as being the UK’s capital of Christmas, Manchester is a great place to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Said Coun Pat Karney, city centre spokesman.

"This will be a fabulous party and a great opportunity for families to see in 2011.

"Everyone who has come along in previous years has had a great time and I look forward to seeing them again this year."

We advise anyone wishing to get a good view of the fireworks to turn up early and wrap up warm. Not a bad idea to bring your own drinks (non alcoholic of course) and be prepared for the wait. Of course the Square should be full of happy revellers and the party atmosphere should be electric.

Transport home should not be a problem with late night buses running through the night to take drunken party goers home safely.
