Malcolm Foster: A Fond Farewell to a Sussex Bonfire Legend

Malcolm Foster, a cherished member of both the Hastings and Robertsbridge Bonfire Societies, as well as an integral part of Renegade Pyrotechnics, has left a significant void in the Sussex bonfire community.

Known for his passion for fireworks and his expertise in orchestrating spectacular displays, Malcolm's sudden passing has deeply saddened his friends and colleagues.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society expressed their grief, remembering Malcolm as a dedicated and valued member of the Pyro Team. His extensive knowledge, experience, and camaraderie will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. "Rest easy Malcolm, the bonfire world is darker without you," they shared.

Keith Leech, founder of Hastings Bonfire, reflected on Malcolm's contributions, highlighting his role in creating memorable displays with resounding fireworks. Malcolm's influence extended beyond Sussex, with connections in Valencia, where he contributed to their renowned fireworks festival. He was a beloved figure, admired and respected by many.

Sam Lovett, who collaborated with Malcolm in Renegade Pyrotechnics, echoed the sentiment, emphasising Malcolm's widespread impact on the bonfire community.

Malcolm's involvement extended beyond bonfire celebrations; he was also an essential part of the lights team for the annual Westfield Christmas Lights. Known for his warmth and sense of humour, he endeared himself to everyone he met. His passing is a profound loss for the community, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

After lots of messages and expressions of wishes to support the family, Malcolm's son, Alfie Foster, has set up a Go Fund Me campaign for people to donate and help give him the best send off they can.
