2018 sees the skies light up over Montreal as the 34th edition of the L’International des Feux Loto Quebec, the largest and most prestigious firework competition in Canada gets underway.

The event was established in 1985 and continues to thrill audiences from across the region with events on Wednesdays and Saturdays (selected dates, please check with their site for more information) throughout the Summer.

The site of the event is a full amusement park and is one of the largest in Quebec. All firework competition tickets will allow full access to La Ronde Park, so you can enjoy all the fun of the fair with full-on thrill seeker rides and some for the less adventurous (or young) as well as a wide range of food concessions.

In the earlier years of the competition they had traditional firework displays, but now everyone in the competition gets creative as possible to bring the best display to the viewer by combining the fireworks with music to make supersized pyro musical displays.

The show will start with a special tribute to Abba, followed by the greatest pyrotechnic companies from all over the world competing in the 8-day competition. The competitors represent all corners of the world, Austria, China, Canada, the United States, Australia and for the 1st time the Philippines are joining in the race looking to bring something new and exciting into the competition. With the closing ceremony, you will be shaken but not stirred as the last evening is all James Bond themed.

Here is the full schedule for the event

Saturday 7th July – Opening the show is Royal Pyrotechnie with a Tribute to ABBA.

Wednesday 11th July – SteyrFire from Austria the theme of Lets Dance

Wednesday 8th August – Closing the event with a fantastic finale is Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks-Panzera with the tribute to James Bond Movies: For Your Eyes Only.

As you can see from this year’s line-up there is a variation of not only a tribute to music with the fireworks but dance, movies, video games, mythology and folklore something for everyone to enjoy young and old.

The competitors are from the best of the best around the World and hold a huge number of awards and accolades amongst them. Howard and Son’s have just finished the Commonwealth Games opening and closing displays and 5th generation pyrotechnicians Rozzis Famous Fireworks have just lifted the silver in the 2018 Malta International Fireworks Festival.

The 2017 competition was won by the UK’s own Jubilee Fireworks who picked up the Gold Jupiter award with a show including a brilliant choice of music and some great colour/effect mixes.

Winning the silver Jupiter prize was Fairyland from France and the Bronze Jupiter went to Macedos Pirotecnia from Portugal.
