After the massive success of the Tour de Yorkshire the County remains on a high, this weekend sees a huge number of tourists looking for special bargains. Maybe it’s that unique Christmas gift or just to watch some beautiful fireworks at this weekend’s Festival Of Light in Huddersfield.
There will be entertainment and bargains to be had all day through with a special ‘Christmas Alternative Market’ which will be stocking all manner of unique gifts for that special person in your life whether hand-made toys and handicrafts, gardening hampers or hand-made jewellery there is something to suit even the most discerning shopper. Alongside the market stalls there will be street entertainment throughout the day from musicians and thespians alike.
In the early afternoon, all those with young children will have the opportunity to attend the ‘Frozen Sing-a-long’ alongside the characters from the film.
There will be lots of food and drink concession stands again offering a huge range of snacks and beverages.
In the late evening, DJ Yoda and The Final Frontier will entertain the crowds with expertise with the manipulation of music, light and moving imagery to take you on a journey through the best of Sci-Fi Films finishing off with Huddersfield based band ‘Stems’ performing to the film ‘A Trip To The Moon’ based on the books of Jules Verne and H G Wells.
The event will be capped off in style when local firework display team Pyro 2000 will be lighting up the night skies with beautiful pyrotechnic effects. Pyro 2000 are the pro display team of local business Standard-Black Cat which have been part of the history of Huddersfield since the business started in 1891.
There will be events throughout the Town on Saturday 29th so get along and show your support for local businesses and enjoy some of that cold fresh air as fortunately, during the morning we expect a couple of short rain showers but from mid-day onwards it will be fine. Unlike last year when the crowds braved torrential rain and plunging temperatures!
