Hatfield Park Battle Proms 2025: Fireworks, Fizz and Full-Blown Festivities

It's a full-scale celebration with orchestral masterpieces, cannons firing in perfect time, Spitfires soaring overhead, and, of course, a spectacular firework finale.

Taking place on Saturday 19th July in the stunning Queen Elizabeth Oak Field, this year’s event marks the 24th annual Battle Proms at Hatfield Park. So, dust off your picnic hamper, grab a bottle of something bubbly, and prepare for an unforgettable evening of music, history, and a sky full of fireworks.

A Concert with a Seriously Dramatic Backdrop

Hatfield Park is steeped in royal history. Legend has it that Elizabeth I learned she was to be queen while standing under one of the ancient oaks in this very field. Fast forward a few hundred years, and it’s now the perfect setting for a summer’s evening of grandeur, where classical masterpieces are accompanied by the thunder of 200 live-firing cannons.

What to Expect: Spitfires, Parachutes and Patriotic Anthems

The New English Concert Orchestra, led by Douglas Coombes MBE and compered by Pam Rhodes, will be providing a fantastic soundtrack to the evening, featuring everything from film scores and musical favourites to beloved classical pieces. Expect a show-stopping performance from soprano Denise Leigh, and get ready to belt out classics like Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory in the rousing, flag-waving finale.

But this event isn’t just about the music—there’s a Spitfire flypast, an appearance from The Red Devils parachute display team, and cavalry displays that bring history to life before your eyes. The Battle Proms Belles will also be on hand to set the tone with their vintage harmonies and lively swing band.

And let’s not forget the grand finale: a huge firework display, lighting up the Hatfield sky in true Battle Proms style.

Picnic, Pavilion or Both?

This is the kind of event where a picnic is practically mandatory. Whether you’re laying out a blanket or going full-on with a gazebo, it’s all about making yourself at home on the lawn. Bring your own feast or pre-order a luxury picnic hamper to collect on arrival.

For those who fancy a touch of VIP treatment, there are concert pavilion tables available from £240 for four people or £340 for six. While food and drink aren’t included, they’re a great way to enjoy the event with friends while having a prime viewing spot for the entertainment.

• Children (5-15 years): £23.00

• Children (4 and under): Free

Gates open at 4:30 pm, with parking available from 2:00 pm (but no overnight parking). Disabled parking is available.
