Fireworks Return to Waverley Park Holiday Centre for Cowes Week 2024

After a hiatus, the spectacular fireworks display at Waverley Park Holiday Centre is set to return as part of Cowes Week 2024. This event promises to light up the skies over East Cowes on Friday, the 2nd of August, offering a stunning finale to one of the UK's most famous regattas.

What is Cowes Week?

Cowes Week is one of the oldest and most celebrated sailing regattas in the world, dating back to 1826. Held annually on the Isle of Wight, this event draws thousands of visitors and sailors from around the globe.

The 2024 regatta will take place from July 27th to August 2nd, featuring a week of thrilling races, lively entertainment, and an array of activities both on and off the water.

During Cowes Week, you can expect to experience:

  • World-Class Sailing: Watch top sailors compete in over 40 races each day, showcasing a mix of professional and amateur talent.
  • Live Entertainment: Enjoy live music, street performances, and vibrant parties that keep the festive atmosphere alive throughout the week.
  • Family Fun: Participate in family-friendly activities, including children’s entertainment, fairground rides, and interactive events.
  • Food and Drink: Savor a wide range of culinary delights from local vendors, pop-up restaurants, and traditional pubs.
  • Shopping and Exhibitions: Browse through marine-related exhibits, shop for unique souvenirs, and explore various stalls offering everything from sailing gear to local crafts.

The Fireworks Display at Waverley Park

The highlight of the week for many attendees is the fireworks display at Waverley Park Holiday Centre. This tradition, which took a break after 2019, returns to fill the gap left by the official Cowes Week fireworks.

The fireworks will be set off from Waverley Park at 9.30pm on Friday, the 2nd of August. The display is best viewed from the holiday park itself, but it can also be enjoyed from Cowes seafront.

The return of the fireworks display at Waverley Park Holiday Centre is a much-anticipated event. Whether you're a sailing enthusiast, a local resident, or a visitor looking for a fantastic evening out, this display promises to be a highlight of the summer.

Getting There

Waverley Park Holiday Centre, located in East Cowes, offers a prime viewing location for the fireworks. If you're staying at the park, you'll have front-row seats to the show. For those coming from Cowes seafront, it’s a short walk or drive, making it convenient for all visitors.

Parking can be challenging during such popular events, so consider arriving early to secure a spot. Alternatively, public transport options or walking from nearby accommodation can take the stress out of the journey.

What to Bring

To make the most of the evening, here are a few tips on what to bring:

  • Warm Clothing: Evenings by the sea can get chilly, so pack some warm layers.
  • Seating: Bring a blanket or folding chairs.
  • Snacks and Drinks: While there may be vendors, having your own snacks and drinks can save time and money.
  • Camera: Capture the spectacular display with your camera or smartphone, but don't forget to also enjoy the moment. It's never the same watching it back as it is in real life.
