The Virgin Money Fireworks Concert brings an explosive end to the Edinburgh International Festival taking place in the beautiful city of Edinburgh from the 3rd to the 27th August 2018.

The concert brings together both music and pyrotechnics spectacularly choreographed to produce a ‘one of a kind’ explosive show.

The backdrop to the festival is the beautiful historic Edinburgh Castle; one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. The castle is set high above the City so there are plenty of vantage points to chose from to witness the fantastic fireworks. If you don’t get close enough to listen to the music don’t worry there are also live broadcasts of the music on the local radio stations across the city.

The evening kicks off with music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra conducted by Clark Rundell. The month-long music festival this year has marked the centenary year of the composer’s birth.

After the interval, the crowds will be treated to a journey into the deepest darkest space with Holst’s “The Planets” perfectly synchronised to the fireworks display.

The planning of the event finale can take up to a month of planning and the original set up of the display begins 7 days before. The fireworks display and finale lasts just under an hour and in this time, there will be over 4 tonnes of explosives and over 400,000 fireworks released in perfect harmony to the music.

Last year’s event drew crowds all over and around the city of up to a quarter of a million, proving that this pyro musical showstopper is definitely not one to be missed.
