FIREWORK CHAMPIONS – NEWBY HALL 2023

WHAT: NEWBY HALL FIREWORK CHAMPIONS
WHEN: 26TH AUGUST 2023
WHERE: SKELTON-ON-URE - NORTH YORKSHIRE
WHY: NATIONAL FIREWORK COMPETITION

Newby Hall is a picturesque venue in North Yorkshire, with a Grade 1 listed designation, and a rich history surrounding the hall itself, and it’s surrounding structures. This history includes its design being supervised by none other than Sir Christopher Wren, a revered English architect, astronomer, and physicist, responsible for many iconic structures around England.

Newby Hall

Within the hall are many beautiful attractions to see. Famous for its gorgeous gardens, Newby Hall boasts one of the largest stately-home gardens in Europe. Edited and tweaked by many loving owners and staff over the years, these gardens showcase the individual styles of its keepers throughout its history.

If you and your family plan on popping along, there will be no shortage of entertainment. A relaxing walk around the gardens, a boat trip or a stop off at the garden restaurant would suit us adults, but the children certainly won’t be disappointed when they discover the miniature railway and brilliant adventure playground.

Although the railway is designed to be a fun children’s activity, we’re sure that it would be great fun for the teens and adults too! (Even if you don’t want to admit it!) We’d love to have a go! Originally opened in 1971 and now extended to be a dumb-bell loop design track, the nostalgic line runs around the breadth of Newby Hall’s grounds, giving passengers a mini-tour of the estate. Or, if you fancy something a bit more relaxing, a boat tour may be the perfect alternative! Take a serene 25 minute cruise along the River Ure, see the stunning Newby Hall gardens from a different angle and enjoy the local wildlife! If you’re lucky enough you may catch sight of a Kingfisher!

Tour de Yorkshire-27

This summer, Newby Hall is holding a heat of the ‘Firework Champions’ competition. Three highly skilled teams will be competing to impress the crows with the most show-stopping firework display!

This event is made even more special by the fact that spectators will be treated to not only three, but FOUR displays! With last years winners putting up a bonus display to round the night off. Keep reading for a brief introduction to the teams.

The Teams:

1: Pyrotex Fireworx

This brilliant team came together in 1999, taking a combined amount of 35 years’ experience, this team have won awards left right and centre, dominating across the UK and representing the nation in international competitions.

2: Bright Sparks Fireworks

Bright Sparks are the experts at putting brilliant choreography into their shows, with a marvellous creative flair. They were the British Musical Firework Champions back in 2016 and gave us a fabulous display at the Festival of Fireworks in 2018. They fire some of the largest displays in Wales and the Northwest, including for a British Prime Minister!

3: Blaze Fireworks

This fabulous team formed in 2014, with a wide range of skills and able to offer displays for many different types of events, they are versatile. After winning last year at Weston Park, this team are once again going for gold!

It is certainly going to be a night to remember at Newby Hall, and we recommend taking full advantage of the stunning grounds by arriving early and exploring the grounds and all they have to offer.

Remember, the unique thing about the format of this competition is that the audience vote for the winner using their mobile phone, making this competition much more interactive and more fun for the audience!

Be sure to book your tickets in advance, and see more details regarding the venue accessibility, parking and other important information on the Firework Champions website.
