Yorkshire aka ‘Gods own County’ plays host to the first in the series of brilliant firework champions events, to be held in the grounds of the grade I listed Newby Hall near Ripon in North Yorkshire.

The imposing Hall was designed by a collective of Architects including contributions from Sir Christopher Wren and Robert Adam resulting in a stunning façade with even more impressive interior. Packed with furniture from the earliest beginnings of the house from Thomas Chippendale and artworks from Rome dated from around the first century BC to the second century AD.

On the day of the Firework Champions event, the gates open for the audience at 4pm and the on-site entertainment kicks off at around 5pm with the event compere out and about in the crowds chatting with the display teams before the real fun gets under way.

This event also gives the crowd the chance to learn more about the fireworks industry and put their burning questions (no pun intended) to the experts.

As the night closes in the fun starts off with a demo at 9.15 and then the first competitors fire at 9.30pm.

The Competitors:

PYRO 2000

The display arm of Standard/Black Cat Fireworks have been competing and creating spectacular displays for over 30 years and their clients include the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as well as an impressive trophy cabinet going back over 20 years including wins in Canada, Monaco and Lithuania to name a few.

ILLUSION FIREWORKS

This company was established in 2014 by husband and wife team Karl and Vicky Mitchell-Shead and they have never looked back. Last year was incredible as the team picked up wins at the Firework Champions event at Stanford Hall, then the British Firework Championships in Plymouth and then topped off their competition season with a stunning display at the British Musical Firework Championships in Southport.

Certain to bring colour and effects to the fore, this team are on a roll so the others had better get their battle dress on.

SPECTRUM FIREWORKS

A team of firework and SFX specialists, this highly trained and knowledgeable team have worked for some of the UK’s biggest companies, creating mind-blowing displays for the BBC, Local Authorities and National and International companies including Audi.

Once all the competitors have completed their display, the organisers MLE Pyrotechnics Ltd take centre stage and continue to thrill the crowds whilst the voting is cast and counted.

A lovely day out for all the family and whether you want to take along a picnic and a blanket or eat out close by, there is plenty to choose from.

There will be some onsite concessions and whilst you are welcome to bring along a picnic, no BBQ’s are allowed.

So for great family fun and fabulous fireworks, get along to your local Firework Champions event.
