This event is organised by MLE Pyrotechnics for the benefit of all those pyro freaks out there, awaiting Bonfire Night with bated breath. There are 5 venues and each will be awarded a champion. All events have 3 competing teams firing and will end with a magical display from the organisers to cap off the night.

Firework Champions 2014 kicks off the season this year at the staggeringly beautiful house and gardens of Stanford Hall in Lutterworth, Leicestershire on 2nd August.

Teams represented in this first of five are G-Force Fireworks, Spitfire Pyrotechnics and Shockwave Pyrotechnics.

All the teams at this and the other 4 venues are to compete against one another by creating the most innovative and spectacular display choreographed to music within a 10-minute display time.

These Category 4 fireworks cannot be purchased or used by the general public and are specifically for display purposes by trained specialist pyro-technicians. It is a craft in itself when you look into the skies above painted with glittering balls of fire and beautiful breaks you will see for yourself.

The firing order is as follows:

• 9:30pm - G-Force Fireworks - Based in Evesham – 15 years in the business in both retail and display fireworks. The team is no stranger to awards having been awarded runners-up in the British Fireworks Championships in Plymouth in 2009 and 2011. The display designer is Steve Prescott and the firing system in use is FireByWire.

• 9:45pm – Spitfire Pyrotechnics Ltd – Based in Coventry – This team are superb and have carried off titles for both winner and runner-up of this event in the past and have captured the ultimate ‘firework’ crown as British Musical Fireworks Championships in Southport three times so they are no strangers to the pressure of competition. The display designer is Mac McNally and the firing system in use is Spitfire Electric.

• 10:00pm – Shockwave Pyrotechnics – Based in Redditch – These lads (and lasses) hold 40 years of experience in pyrotechnics between them and have been twice runners-up and achieved 1st place in 2011 at the Eastnor event. Established as a company together in 2007 this team will certainly bring their best game and put on some first class fireworks. The display designer is Glen Pearson and the firing system is FireByWire.

The closing display will be nothing short of spectacular as the ultimate experts in their field and organisers of this wonderful event, MLE Pyrotechnics of Daventry, were worthy winners of the 2011 British Fireworks Championships in Plymouth and have worked on huge advertising campaigns like Sainsbury’s perfect Christmas campaign where they supplied and fired the display used for the advert. Their show has been designed Mat Lawrence and is to be fired using FireByWire.

This unique event is the only one of its kind in the UK where the viewing public sends in SMS to vote for their chosen champions.

There are all manner of different types of entertainment on offer for all the family including bouncy castle, rides and attractions, the usual concessionary drinks tents (alcoholic and non alcoholic) music and lots of green space to spend time with family and loved ones in the great outdoors.

If you live in the area and are looking for entertainment for all the family, get along and show your support and learn a little more about professional fireworks, the different types used and the amount of technology involved.
