Fetes de Geneve - Geneva Festival
The “Fêtes de Genève” is one of Switzerland’s biggest festivals.
A mix of concerts, rowing races, a waterski jump display, a fun fair and even a giant fondue transform the lakeside area into a merry party-zone for locals and visitors. There’ll also be fireworks on August 8. Now the good bit. Every year a theme is chosen for the spectacular fireworks display. This year the theme is “A Thousand and One Nights“.
For almost one hour the sky will be filled with comets stars and beauty and the air filled with sound from around the world. Yes for 2009, a pyrotechnic vision of a thousand and one nights will offer the audience a 55-minute journey through the nights of the world. From East to West, the tropics and beyond with music to suit the mood.
Arranged in a circle around the bay, 30 firing positions will allow the pyrotechnists magic to flow freely and amuse and entertain the thousands watching.
Opening on the traditional Arabic music for a small taste of a few light minutes in tribute to the Sultanate of Oman, guest of honor at the Geneva Festival.
With guest companies and pyrotechnists from around the world contributing to this massive display, this is sure to be one of the most impressive displays in Europe this summer and is not to be missed.
