Everything You Need to Know About the Worthing Lions Summer Festival

The Worthing Lions Summer Festival is back, and it's packed with a whole host of attractions, including markets, tombola, fireworks (of course), classic cars, a scooter rally, American cars, and vintage buses.

Plus, a funfair runs for ten days around the Worthing Lions Summer Festival, meaning there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s festival.

What's On at the Worthing Lions Summer Festival

The festival will officially open at 10am on Saturday, 27th July, with Worthing’s town crier, Bob Smytherman, leading the ceremony from the Worthing Lions gazebos.

Running until the 4th of August, the festival has loads of offer focused across two main days of celebration, along with a ten-day funfair near the Pier.

What's On on Saturday, 27th July:

  • All-Day Market: Starting from 10am and running until 10:30pm, the market on the Promenade will feature traders selling accessories, clothing, health and beauty products, crafts, jewellery, and more. There will also be a licensed bar and food stalls to keep you refreshed.
  • Classic Vehicles and Scooters: Steyne Gardens will be home to over a hundred classic vehicles, BSA Bantams, and Vintage Motor Scooters from 10am to 5pm. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to chat with owners about their beloved classics. Seaside Hospital radio will provide music and commentary throughout the day.
  • Tombola: Running from 10am to 4pm, this year’s tombola will raise funds for Ferring Country Centre, a charity that provides training and work experience for people with learning disabilities. Tickets are £1 each.
  • Fireworks Display: The day culminates in a spectacular fireworks display at 10pm from the end of the Promenade.

What's On on Sunday, 28th July:

  • All-Day Market: The market continues from 10am to 4pm, offering more opportunities to browse and shop.
  • American Cars: Steyne Gardens will showcase a stunning collection of American cars from 9am to 5pm, perfect for car enthusiasts.
  • Vintage Bus Rally: The seafront at West Parade (Heene Road to Rye Close) will feature a bus rally from 10am to 4pm. Visitors can board restored buses, including classic Routemasters and vintage Southdown Buses, for an unforgettable trip along the prom.

Getting Tickets to the Worthing Lions Summer Festival

One of the best parts about the Worthing Lions Summer Festival is that it’s FREE to attend. However, donations are encouraged to support the Worthing Lions in continuing to run the festival and contribute to community projects.

Over the past 70 years, the Worthing Lions have raised over £720,000 for good causes, benefiting the local community immensely.

How to Get There

The festival is held at Worthing Seafront and Steyne Gardens and there are loads of ways you can get there and enjoy the fun.

Travelling By Car:

Worthing is easily accessible via the A24 from London and the A27 along the south coast. Parking is available, but it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a spot.

Travelling By Train:

Worthing train station is well-connected with services from London, Brighton, and other major cities. The seafront and Steyne Gardens are a short walk or taxi ride from the station.

Travelling By Bus:

Local bus services run frequently to Worthing. Check with local providers for the best routes and schedules.

Travelling On Foot or by Bike:

If you’re local, walking or cycling to the event can be a convenient and environmentally friendly option. There are plenty of paths and bike racks available.
