Epic Fireworks - 'Use Your Head Or Lose Your Hand' Follow The Firework Code Poster.

When used as per the instructions on the packaging, fireworks are a fascinating and spectacular addition to any late evening event but this is where many of us seem to come unstuck. It is a simple equation really, the reason fireworks are loud and brash is that they are classed as explosives for good reason …. THEY EXPLODE!!

The rules are simple and have changed very little, apart from a few distance recommendations, over the years.

If you are planning on having some fireworks for your birthday, anniversary, 4th July Celebrations or for Easter, you should still be following the firework safety code. This will then ensure that your celebrations are not brought to an abrupt end by a visit to A & E.

Plan your fireworks display in advance to ensure that you have all the support that you need to ensure that everything runs according to plan. Any reputable firework retailer will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Just remember that no question is stupid and they are the experts.

Keep fireworks in a closed box (if you are using selection box fireworks for the garden) and remove each one individually.

If you are firing a consumer display pack, remember that there has to be a MINIMUM 25 METRE SAFETY DISTANCE and if you are insured and do not follow this advice, any damage caused as a result of your misuse will not be covered.

Read and follow the instructions on every firework before use. Preferably using a torch (no naked flames).

Light the firework at arm's length with a taper or a specialist lighter (port-fires are the safest device if you are not using a firing system). ALL of our consumer display packs come with these and safety goggles.

Keep naked flames away from fireworks – that means no cigarettes!!

Never return to a firework once it has been lit.

Don’t put fireworks in your pockets and never throw them - there is a fine of up to £5000, possible imprisonment for three months or an on the spot fine of £80.00

Make sure that the expected flight path of a rocket is clear and away from the crowd/spectators.

NEVER USE PARAFFIN OR PETROL ON A BONFIRE – you will suddenly find yourself with an uncontrollable fire and moreover, the smell and choking fumes would make it really uncomfortable for your family and friends too.

Ensure that any fire, fireworks or sparklers are thoroughly extinguished before leaving.

FIREWORKS SHOULD NOT BE HANDLED BY ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.

THE RULES ARE SIMPLE – JUST FOLLOW THEM!!
