Enjoy a Summer of Fireworks in Weymouth This Year

Weymouth Town Council is once again bringing a series of spectacular free firework displays to Weymouth seafront, promising five nights of dazzling summer entertainment.

Weymouth is renowned for its summer events, and the weekly firework displays are a highlight. The displays create a fantastic atmosphere throughout the town, benefiting the local economy and providing a wonderful experience for locals and vistors.

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Jon Orrell, expressed his excitement about the events, saying, “The fireworks on Weymouth seafront always create a fantastic atmosphere throughout the town for residents and visitors. It’s great for the local economy and I am excited to welcome everyone into Weymouth to witness these firework displays on July 29th and every Monday night in August.”

Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of these incredible free displays.

Firework Display Schedule and Timings

The firework displays will kick off on Monday, 29th July, with subsequent displays every Monday throughout August (5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th). Each show will begin at 9:30 pm, ensuring that the skies are dark enough for the fireworks to shine their brightest.

Dates to Remember:

  • Monday, 29th July
  • Monday, 5th August
  • Monday, 12th August
  • Monday, 19th August
  • Monday, 26th August

Best Viewing Spots

The fireworks will be launched from a boat moored in Weymouth Bay, offering spectacular views along the entire seafront. Some of the best viewing spots include:

  • Weymouth Beach: Stretching for over three miles, the beach provides plenty of space for you to find a comfortable spot to enjoy the show.
  • Greenhill Beach: Just a short walk from Weymouth Beach, this area offers a slightly quieter spot with excellent views of the fireworks.
  • The Esplanade: Running parallel to the beach, the Esplanade is perfect if you want to be close to local entertainment and food and drink options while enjoying the display.

Getting There

To reduce congestion and make the events more enjoyable for everyone, you're encouraged to leave your car at home and use public transport or walk to the seafront.

  • Walking: If you’re staying nearby, walking is a great way to soak in the local scenery and avoid the hassle of parking.
  • Public Transport: Weymouth is well-served by buses, and the train station is just a short walk from the seafront. Check local schedules to plan your trip.
  • Parking: For those who need to drive, there are several car parks in the town centre, but they may fill up quickly on event nights. Arrive early to secure a spot.

What Else Is On?

The firework displays aren't all that Weymouth has to offer; they’re part of a larger summer celebration in Weymouth which includes live music events, a fun fair and more. Here are some tips to make the most of your visit to the area and your evening watching the fireworks:

  • Picnics on the Beach: Bring a picnic and enjoy a meal on the beach before the fireworks start. It’s a great way to relax and enjoy the summer evening.
  • Local Food Options: Weymouth has a variety of cafes, restaurants, and pubs along the seafront. Grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink as you wait for the show to begin.
  • Arrive Early: To get the best spot and avoid the last-minute rush, plan to arrive early. Enjoy the beach, explore the town, and settle in for the evening’s entertainment.
