Diwali 08 Fireworks

Diwali 08 Fireworks

The residents of the Barham Park area of Wembley had a treat with fireworks lighting the skies above for the Festival of Lights celebrations for Diwali.

This beautiful festival lasts for five days and has been celebrated since ancient times in India. It is widely believed that the event started in celebration of the marriage of Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu.

Fireworks are used to express reverence to the heavens in gracious thanks for their health, wealth, knowledge and prosperity. The sound of the fireworks is said to be essentially a message to the gods telling them that their worshippers are all well.
