When the rest of us are recovering from the festivities of New Year’s Eve, the town of Cromer will be gearing up for a family fun day featuring its popular torchlit parade and spectacular fireworks display.

This annual display was first held back in 2000 on the meadow when the Town Council decided to provide a firework display to celebrate the millennium. Been a free event, the 1st show was a success and donations from the crowds exceeded expectations as a result of which, another was planned for a year later.

Year upon year the event grew becoming larger and more popular and it was decided to move the fireworks to the pier as this was a bigger site. Since 2000, the event has raised more than enough to supply the fireworks each year and along with giving out grants totalling over £60,000 to local charities and good causes.

Over 10,000 locals and visitors attend the event, so beware that the town does get busy so best to arrive early and spend the full day in Cromer and join in on some of the other activities and visit the many shops and cafes that are open.

Cromer, New Year's Day fireworks

This year will be a celebration of 21 years of the event and will have added extras into the sequence of fireworks to captivate the audience. Along with this, there is a new route and for those that have purchased the official merchandise on offer a designated grandstand viewing area for the firework display. Titanium Fireworks is the company in charge of lighting up the skies of Cromer pier as they have done in spectacular style in previous years. Making sure that this New Year’s Day celebration ends with a bang.
