Cromer's New Year's Day Firework Extravaganza: What's Happening & How to Get Involved

Cromer, a picturesque town on the Norfolk coast, is gearing up to welcome the New Year in a spectacular way with its traditional New Year's Day Firework display.

Organized by Cromer Town Council, this beloved event is not just about the beautiful display in the sky but is also an event centred on community support and generosity.

Scheduled for January 1st at 5pm, the iconic display will be set off from the historic Cromer Pier, casting a dazzling array of colours and effects over the North Sea. It's a festive celebration that brings together locals and visitors, welcoming the New Year in style.

Supporting the Event

However, the success of this event relies on community support. Cromer Town Council, in conjunction with event organizers, is again urging residents and well-wishers to lend a hand by volunteering for bucket collections. These collections are a significant means to fund the event and contribute to local charities and noble causes within the town.

In 2022, the display attracted an impressive gathering of more than 15,000 people and funds raised from the event were generously distributed. £4,500 was donated to local organisations including, Cromer Youth and Skate Park, Norfolk SEN network, Community Matters Café, Cromer Academy, Crab and Lobster and Norfolk Community Law Service.

Organisers are asking for volunteers to give just two hours of their time to help fund raise and if you can get involved please contact deputy@cromer-tc.gov.uk or phone 01263 512254.

More than a Fireworks Display

The event isn't just about the fireworks; it's a day filled with a range of family friendly activities.

Before the fireworks take centre stage, there will be a family fun run at 3pm along the promenade, with registration from 2.30pm at the pier forecourt. . Organised by The North Norfolk Beach Runners it's the perfect way to start the celebrations.

Following that, there will be a torchlight procession from St. Peter and St. Paul's Church at 4:30pm. Torches will be on sale from 2pm outside Cromer Museum, each priced at £5. Which is a bargain when you consider the fact that those who have purchased a torch will get a prime viewing spot for the fireworks.

As well as that, an exciting raffle will be happening. Tickets priced at £1 each will be up for grabs, offering a chance for one lucky winner to kick off the fireworks alongside Mayor Pat West. Moreover, visitors can indulge in mulled wine and support local businesses during the celebrations.

Accessible to Everyone

To ensure everyone can enjoy the event comfortably, designated wheelchair viewing areas and specialised facilities like the Changing Places facility will be provided, showcasing the town's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

Cromer's New Year's Day Firework display isn't just a visual spectacle; it's a celebration of community spirit, charity, and togetherness, fostering a sense of unity and joy as the town welcomes the new year together.
