Costessey Fete & Fayre 2025 – Norfolk’s Favourite Family Event is Back!

Costessey Fete & Fayre 2025 – Norfolk’s Favourite Family Event is Back!

Well, that was a close one. After some uncertainty, the organisers of Costessey Fete and Fayre have officially confirmed that it will be returning in 2025. And not just returning—it’s going to be bigger, better, and packed with even more to see and do.

On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September, the Norfolk Showground will once again play host to one of the county’s best-loved events. More space, more attractions, and a Saturday night fireworks display that promises to end the night with a bang (literally).

Oh, and did we mention it was voted Norfolk’s Best Event for 2024? So, if you missed out last time, now’s your chance to see what all the fuss is about.

What’s On at Costessey Fayre 2025

You know an event is doing something right when 20,000 people turn up, and the 2025 line-up is set to pull in even more.

For starters, there’s Dinoland, complete with the UK’s biggest T-Rex. If you’ve ever wanted to stand next to something that could eat you in one bite, now’s your chance. But if prehistoric predators aren’t your thing, maybe you’ll prefer something a little more magical—real-life mermaids are making their first-ever appearance in the brand-new Mermaid Tank. Pose for a picture, make a wish, or just try to figure out how they manage to hold their breath for so long.

Then there’s the funfair, one of Norfolk’s oldest and best-loved, packed with all the thrill rides, family-friendly attractions, and candyfloss you could ask for. If you prefer your entertainment with a bit of competition, test your aim with Grey Goose Archery & Axes, or dive into the laser tag battle zone, where you can get taken out by an overenthusiastic ten-year-old with unnervingly good accuracy.

Fancy a bit of nostalgia? Hop on board the Top Field Light Railway, a 7¼-inch gauge miniature train offering rides for kids and adults alike. Or, if you’re a Pokémon fan, head to the brand-new Collectors’ Area, where you can buy, sell, trade, and battle your way to victory.

For those who like a bit of live action, there are military reenactments, a fun dog show, and over eight hours of live performances each day. On Saturday night, the bands will keep the energy going before the huge fireworks display closes the day in spectacular fashion.

And let’s not forget the food village, serving up top-quality grub to keep you fuelled all weekend. If shopping’s more your thing, there’ll be up to 200 stalls, selling everything from handmade crafts to gifts and local produce.

There's more being added to the line-up all the time so it's safe to say you won't be bored at the 2025 Costessey Fete and Fayre.

The History of Costessey Fayre

The Costessey Fete and Fayre didn’t start out as the huge event it is today. Back in the early days, it was a much smaller, local gathering—the sort of event where everyone knew everyone, and the biggest attraction was probably a well-stocked cake stall.

Fast forward to today, and it’s one of the most popular family events in Norfolk, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year. It’s been run by Gary Blundell since 2014, and for a long time, it was organised on behalf of Costessey Town Council. But as it grew, so did the need for more space, more attractions, and a structure that could keep up with its success. So, in 2022, it became a Community Interest Company (CIC), meaning it’s now run independently but still stays true to its community roots.

The best part? It’s all about giving back. The fayre plays a huge role in supporting local charities and fundraising efforts. Whether it’s through charity stalls, donation drives, or reinvesting proceeds into local initiatives.
