Everything You Need To Know About The Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend 2025

If you're after a weekend packed with pride, pageantry, and proper good vibes, then mark your calendars for Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend 2025. Taking place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June, this three-day celebration is one of the biggest and most well-loved events in the region—and for good reason.

This isn’t just a few tents and a token flyby. This is the real deal. A full-throttle tribute to our armed forces, past and present, and a brilliant way to say thank you to the serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families who’ve given so much for Queen (well, now King) and country.

When and Where

You’ll find all the action down at The Knoll, Cleethorpes (DN35 8LL), right on the seafront. Things officially run from 11:00am to 6:00pm, but if you know Cleethorpes, you’ll know the buzz tends to linger long after the bunting’s been packed away.

What's On: Parades, Planes and Patriotism

The festivities kick off in style with the Armed Forces Carnival Parade—a crowd favourite that sees more than 70 floats, performers, and groups taking to the streets. Expect music, dancing, marching, cheering and a proper old-school community carnival atmosphere that’ll have even the grumpiest spectator cracking a smile.

Saturday 28th June is the formal Armed Forces Day—the heart of the whole weekend. Think military parades, jaw-dropping flying displays, and live capability demonstrations that’ll give you goosebumps and maybe a small lump in the throat (no shame in it). There’ll be plenty of hands-on activities too, with chances to meet real-life service members, explore military vehicles, and hear stories that bring home the courage behind the uniforms.

And it’s all totally free. That’s right—free. Bring your nan, bring your neighbour, bring your dog (though maybe not to the loud bits).

Community Spirit, Street Parties and Alfresco Fun

One of the loveliest things about Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend is how it brings everyone together. Whether it’s a knees-up on your front lawn, a beachside picnic with your mates, or a gentle chat over a brew with a local veteran, it’s all about connection.

The organisers are encouraging local street parties and pop-up gatherings around the main activity zones, so don’t be shy—get involved. It’s a brilliant opportunity to mix with service personnel and veterans in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

The whole of the Cleethorpes seafront will be buzzing with activity. From family-friendly entertainment to solemn moments of reflection, there's something for every age and interest. It’s inclusive, uplifting, and totally unique.

Show Your Support

It’s not just about having a good time—although that’s definitely part of it. Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend is a chance to show real support and gratitude to the people who make sacrifices on our behalf. It’s also about raising awareness of the work they do all year round, not just when there's a crisis in the headlines.

If you’re a fan of a good old-fashioned show of national pride (with a bit of seaside charm thrown in), you’ll be right at home.

Fireworks? You Never Know...

While there hasn’t been an official fireworks display confirmed as part of the programme just yet, Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend has always known how to put on a show. And let’s be honest—there’s nothing quite like a firework finale to round off a day of celebration and reflection. Here’s hoping the skies over the estuary get a bit of sparkle come sundown.

Keep an Eye Out

The full, final programme is still under wraps as it goes through safety checks and gets the thumbs-up from the relevant services, but the official website will be updated regularly in the run-up. So, if you’re a planner (or just like knowing when to sneak off for an ice cream), keep checking for the latest updates.

Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend isn’t just a highlight of the local calendar—it’s a standout moment for anyone who loves a bit of British spirit, seaside charm and a celebration that means something. Whether you’re there to cheer on the parade, shake a veteran’s hand, or just soak up the atmosphere with your family, it’s well worth the trip.

So dust off your Union Jack bucket hat, grab the kids, and make a day (or three) of it. You’ll laugh, you might cry, and you’ll definitely leave with a heart that’s just a little bit fuller.
