Clacton Pier Fireworks 2025: Bigger, Better, and With an Extra Bang

Clacton Pier Fireworks 2025: Bigger, Better, and With an Extra Bang

If you thought Clacton Pier had outdone itself with last year’s fireworks, think again. The pier bosses are back at it, and this time they’ve dialled things up a notch.

With eleven free displays lined up for 2025—one more than last year—there are even more chances to see the skies over Clacton burst into colour. Whether you’re a local who never misses a show or a visitor looking for a seaside spectacle, here’s everything you need to know about this year’s displays.

When to Catch the Action

The first firework extravaganza kicks off on Easter Sunday, April 20th, setting the tone for what promises to be another spectacular season. This is followed by two May Bank Holiday weekend displays on May 4th and May 25th, ensuring spring gets the explosive send-off it deserves.

The summer shows are where things get serious, with six displays lined up to keep holidaymakers and locals entertained. Four consecutive Saturday nights—July 26th, August 2nd, 9th, and 16th—will see the pier light up with back-to-back displays, giving everyone a chance to soak up the summer magic. And for those attending the Clacton Airshow, there’s an added bonus: the pier will be firing up a display on August 21st, following the night flights. Three days later, on August 24th, another display will take place to round off the Bank Holiday weekend in style.

The final firework night of the year takes place on November 8th to mark Guy Fawkes Night, and this one comes with a little extra thought. Following positive feedback from last year, the pier will once again be putting on a low-noise display first, followed by the main event later in the evening. Perfect for those who love the visuals but could do without the full-throttle booms.

Best Viewing Spots

While Clacton Pier itself offers prime viewing for the fireworks, it does get busy. If you want to dodge the biggest crowds but still get a cracking view, consider heading to Marine Parade West Gardens or Clacton Beach just along the seafront. Greensward Cliffs near the pier is another great option, giving you a slightly elevated view of the action.

If you're after a unique experience, some of the local seafront restaurants and bars offer great views with the bonus of food and drinks on hand—though you’ll want to book a table in advance.

More Than Just Fireworks

It’s not just about setting off a few rockets and calling it a night. The team at Clacton Pier are constantly looking to improve the experience, and that means some displays will be set to music, as they have been for the past two years. If you’ve never seen fireworks perfectly timed to a soundtrack, trust us—it’s something special.

Nigel Brown, the pier’s communications manager, summed it up best: “We know that the fireworks bring people into the town, but they are also very much for local residents who are our regular customers throughout the year.” So whether you’re making a trip to Clacton specifically for the show or you’re just popping down after your chippy tea, these displays are put on with everyone in mind.

What Else is Happening in Clacton?

Clacton isn’t just about fireworks—there’s plenty to do before and after the big show. If you're making a day of it, take a stroll along the award-winning Clacton Beach, explore the classic amusements at Clacton Pier, or get your adrenaline fix on the rides. Fancy something a little quieter? Holland-on-Sea Beach is just up the coast and offers a more peaceful spot for a seaside walk.

If you’re around during the Clacton Airshow in August, you’ll be treated to breathtaking aerial displays during the day before the fireworks cap things off in the evening. Live music events, market stalls, and street food vendors also pop up throughout the summer, making Clacton Pier’s firework nights a perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the town.

Getting to Clacton and Around the Event

By Car: Clacton is well connected via the A133, which links to the A120 and A12. If you're driving, be aware that parking near the pier fills up fast on firework nights. There are public car parks at Jackson Road, Hastings Avenue, and High Street, but it’s worth arriving early to grab a spot.

By Train: Clacton has a direct train service from London Liverpool Street, with journeys taking around 1 hour 30 minutes. The station is just a 10-minute walk from the pier, making it an easy option if you don’t fancy dealing with traffic.

By Bus: If you're coming from nearby towns like Frinton, Walton, or Colchester, local buses run regularly to Clacton town centre. The main bus stops are a short walk from the seafront, so you won’t have far to go.

Getting Around: Clacton is very walkable, so once you’re in town, it’s easy to get where you need to be on foot. If you're looking for a slightly different way to take in the sights, bike hire is available along the seafront, or you can hop on the open-top seasonal seafront bus when it's running.

Where to Eat and Drink

If you’re planning to grab a bite before or after the fireworks, there are plenty of options. You'll be spoilt for choice if you're after the classic seaside fare of fish and chips, while Armstrong’s at the Pavilion offers a sit-down meal with sea views. The Royal Hotel serves up a solid menu of pub classics, and if you fancy something sweet, the ice cream parlours along the seafront are always a winner.

For drinks, Moon & Starfish (a Wetherspoons pub) is a popular spot, and several smaller independent bars and cafes along the pier and promenade offer everything from cocktails to coffees.

Don’t Miss Out

With more displays than ever, Clacton Pier’s 2025 fireworks programme is shaping up to be one of the best yet. Whether you go for the Easter spectacle, the summer seaside shows, the airshow finale, or the grand Guy Fawkes night send-off, you’re guaranteed a proper coastal cracker. Keep an eye on timings, grab yourself a good viewing spot, and get ready to watch Clacton light up once again.
