Saturday 20th August 2016 sees the forth in the series of competitions held at some of the UK’s most beautiful stately homes.

This week’s competition will be held in the grounds of the stunning Capesthorne Hall in Siddington, Cheshire. The Hall is classed as a country house in the Jacobean style by renowned architect and landscape specialist Edward Blore who went on to build Buckingham Palace and carry out extensive repairs to both St James’ Palace and Windsor Castle.

Capesthorne has been home to the Bromley Davenport family since 1726. The house underwent a great deal of alteration over the forthcoming years, until 1837 when Davies Davenport brought the dis-joined two wings together and added new stable blocks to create a more symmetrical façade.

Davenport is one of the oldest family names in England having been recorded in pipe rolls (rolled scrolls of records to the exchequer from 12th - 19th centuries) from 1254 but further checks and the discovery of some ancient documents, they have since been able to trace all the way back to 1066 so there has been a Davenport or Bromley Davenport in residence for 290 years.

The perfect place to take the family along with a huge picnic blanket and take in the sheer beauty of the house and gardens before the fireworks get under way just after 9.15 with a demonstration/tutorial about Category 4 pyrotechnics (professional use ONLY) before the competitors take their places.

The event is the brainchild of MLE Pyrotechnics who will be responsible for the finale show whilst the votes are cast and counted.

The teams competing at Capesthorne Hall this year are as follows:

9.30 PDC FIREWORKS – PETERBOROUGH, CAMBRIDGESHIRE

Family run display team who work all over the Country for a huge number of clients. They have a great pedigree when it comes to competition as they were runners up at Broughton Hall in 2013 and won at Belvoir Castle 2014 and here at Capesthorne Hall in 2015 so they are no strangers to the format.

10.00 ILLUSION FIREWORKS - OXFORDSHIRE

Started in 2014, in the first year Karl and the team fired almost 100 shows for a variety of clientele including Chelsea mid-fielder Eden Hazzard, The British Army and a number of others.

In 2015 the team were invited along to take part in their first Firework Champions event at Newby Hall and the crowd were so impressed with the variety of colour and effects that the team were awarded the win.

This year, they get the chance to defend their title at Capesthorne so visitors can see some truly innovative pieces first hand.
