A little about each company:
1st Galaxy Fireworks – Sherwood, Nottingham
Runners up at the British Firework Championships and British Musical Firework Championships as well as participants in innumerable international events. The company was established over 20 years ago and have a number of regular corporate customers.
Pyro 2000 - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Established in 1996 as the display arm of the company Black Cat/Standard Fireworks who have been thrilling us throughout the UK for over 100 years (standard was established in 1891!!) This company have a huge number of UK clients and have competed all over the World during their history including picking up the win in Macau in 2016 and more recently they were over in Vietnam for the DIFF (DaNang International Firework Festival) helping out Pyrotex Fireworx into the final where they were narrowly beaten by JoHo Pyro. They are also the team providing the fireworks for the magnificent Edinburgh Tattoo.
Phoenix Fireworks – Sevenoaks, Kent
Established for over 45 years this team have been under new management for the last 10 years and have again competed in numerous National and International festivals. Last year, their set up was damaged during another team’s display resulting in Phoenix not being able to show their full potential but in the fireworks game this sort of thing can happen. Best of luck to the team.
Magic and Miracles Fireworks – Stapleford, Nottingham
Established in 1994 so they have been 25 years in the professional display game. The team won at the Firework Champions Event in 2018 at Arley Hall and they have a packed diary of events booked all year round with an impressive list of clients from the business and private sectors.
G2 Fireworks – Middlesborough, Teeside
The company has been in the fireworks industry for 30 years and competed at Catton Hall for the Festival of Fireworks. I have to say that having watched their display from the Festival of Fireworks it was exceptional – the precision and use of colour and effects was absolutely beautiful.
Distant Thunder Fireworks – Devizes, Wiltshire
This team were set to compete at the 2018 event here in Southport but due to severe weather conditions and an incident which resulted in burning debris setting fire to a tree and some hitting a spectator, the event was cancelled for the safety of everyone.
You can go along for one or all the three nights events and out and about there is plenty to see and do during the day.
Southport is great for browsing the shops as there are a huge number of High Street and independent retailers per square metre than in London.
The Wayfarer Arcade even has a bronze statue of the legendary Red Rum, the horse who went on to win three times and place runner up twice during his illustrious career. The horse used to train on the sands at Southport. So if you are looking for anything from Dolce and Gabbana to YSL or want inexpensive homewares, it is certainly a shoppers paradise.
Eating out can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be whether you are looking to have afternoon tea (Nostalgia Tea-rooms), Sushi (V-Café and Sushi bar) or some delicious seafood and steaks (La Forge Brasserie) there is something for every taste and budget.
Have a great time.
