British Musical Firework Championships 2011

The biggest and best of UK pyro talent will descend on Southport for three nights of spectacular displays.

Seven pyrotechnic teams will give their best in Southport for three nights of the most spectacular and magical displays from the crème de la crème. The venue for this event is Kings Gardens, overlooking the Marine Lake from today until Sunday October 2nd from 7pm.

Each display will last around 20 minutes and will be expertly choreographed to music.

Last years defending champions, Pyrotex Fireworx will kick off the competition in style on Friday evening. Hannah Clarkson and Mark Kelsall, who jointly own the Staffordshire based company have a new addition to their team, 5-week old baby boy Barney. The couple made the decision to have a baby following their win following their win at last years championships and proud mum Hannah is known to have said that if they win again, Barney may have a new brother or sister too.

This is last years show:

The complete running order is as follows:

• Friday 30 September: Pyrotex Fireworks followed by Skyburst
• Saturday 1st October: Komodo then Walk The Plank followed by Vulcan Fireworks
• Sunday 2nd October: Reaction Fireworks and closing with Star Fireworks

The pyrotechnic teams over this weekend have worked with the likes of The X Factor, Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and The Rolling Stones to name but a few.

The weather is going to remain beautiful until Tuesday of next week so spend it in this beautiful coastal town sipping a cocktail whilst watching the UK’s finest display teams.

Tickets (£5/£7) can be purchased from Southport Tourism Office over the telephone and online. Children under 5 go free.
