British Firework Championships 2025 Results – Champion of Champions Crowned in Plymouth
If you thought Plymouth Sound couldn’t get any brighter, louder, or more spectacular, think again. The 2025 British Firework Championships went full throttle this year with a “Champion of Champions” showdown – a high-stakes battle between six of the UK’s finest display teams, all of whom had won the title in previous years.
And after two nights of jaw-dropping colour, rhythm, and sky-shaking finales, the crown went to…
SelStar Fireworks of Selsey, West Sussex – now officially Champion of Champions.

A Title Worth Fighting For
For SelStar Fireworks, the victory was particularly sweet. They last won the Championships back in 2019, and this year they faced the toughest competition yet – the best of the best.
Director Stephen Harriott summed it up perfectly: “We knew it was going to be very tough to retain our ‘champion of champions’ title against such a high standard of teams. Design work started over nine months ago and hundreds of hours of prep work is carried out before the team of 15 set the display out on site.”
The judging panel awarded SelStar an impressive 121 points, praising their artistry, timing, symmetry, and pure wow-factor. Harriott added: “It means the world to the team.”
And honestly – after months of planning and countless hours on the firing site – few titles in fireworks are harder earned.
BBB Fireworks: The People’s Champions
While SelStar took home the main trophy, BBB Fireworks made a big impact with their high-energy display, earning both runner-up and the Young People’s Choice Award.
The award was judged by local care-experienced children and young people, who scored teams on colour, rhythm, variety, and the good old-fashioned “wow” factor. Clearly, BBB ticked all the boxes.
Matt Southam of BBB Fireworks revealed just how big they went: “We went full out, we threw everything at it. We ignited more than 500 fireworks in the 15-second long finale.”
Talk about going out with a bang.
More Than Just Fireworks
As always, the Championships weren’t just about what happened in the sky. Plymouth put on a proper summer festival atmosphere with fire performers, stilt walkers, live music, and funfairs for families and visitors.
The event continues to be one of the biggest and most loved in the UK pyrotechnic calendar, pulling in thousands from across the country.
A Bit of History – British Firework Championships
The British Firework Championships first launched back in 1997, and in almost three decades it has grown into one of the UK’s most iconic annual pyrotechnic events.
-
Location: Plymouth Sound, Devon – chosen for its natural amphitheatre and stunning waterfront views.
-
Competitors: Six professional display companies compete each year, each given a strict budget, time limit, and firing window.
-
Audience: The event draws over 100,000 visitors across the two nights, making it one of the largest free events in the South West.
-
Champion of Champions: Every few years, past winners are invited back to battle it out for ultimate bragging rights – and that’s what made 2025 extra special.
- Best Value Event in the UK: The British Firework Championships is free, making it one of the best events for firework enthusiasts in the UK.
It’s not just about lighting up the sky – it’s about tradition, community, and celebrating the best of British fireworks.
