2016 marks the 18th occasion the British Firework Championships will be held. The competition started in 1997 by The Event Services Association (TESSA) following on from a desire within the professional display industry to enjoy competition and demonstrate and hone their skills and so the British Firework Championships was born.
The event will be held on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th August 2016 on the Hoe. There will be entertainment provided alongside the fireworks over both evenings including a Fun-fair, thrill rides, Heart FM and attractions alongside drinks and food concessions.
The fireworks bring in up to 100,000 per evening to the area so it is massively important to the economy as well as being downright entertaining.
The teams firing are:
AURORA FIREWORKS
SHELLSCAPE PYROTECHNICS
PHOENIX FIREWORKS
GALA FIREWORKS
DISTANT THUNDER FIREWORKS
SMART PYROTECHNICS
RESERVE TEAM: F1 PYROTECHNICS
At this time, we are not aware of the firing order but we will of course update you as soon as we know.
In the meantime, last year’s event was won for a second time by the talented team representing Fantastic Fireworks. They were responsible for the exceptional event at Drayton Manor last year when they provided a firework display choreographed to the soundtrack of the War of the Worlds by H G Wells in celebration of the park’s 65th Anniversary. According to friends who attended, they said it was one of the best pyrotechnic displays choreographed to the narration of the film footage they had ever seen.
So, in the mid summer holidays, get along to Plymouth, spend the day on the beautiful beach and the evening captivated by some of the most incredible pyrotechnics you will have ever witnessed.
