Bournemouth Summer Fireworks 2025: Free Friday Night Fireworks by the Sea
There’s nothing quite like the sound of waves crashing, seagulls squawking, and then... BOOM! The Bournemouth Summer Fireworks are back for 2025, lighting up the south coast once again with six weeks of seaside sky shows — and the best bit? They’re completely free.
From Friday 25th July to Friday 29th August, Bournemouth Seafront becomes a front-row seat to one of the best regular fireworks displays in the UK. Whether you’re a local, a holidaymaker or someone who just likes a good excuse for a Friday night out, these displays are the perfect way to kick off your weekend.
When and Where to See the Fireworks
Mark your calendars, because this year’s summer firework displays in Bournemouth will be held every Friday night at 10pm, starting on 25th July and running right through to 29th August.
Location: Bournemouth Seafront (east of Bournemouth Pier), BH2 5AA
Dates:
-
Friday 25 July
-
Friday 1 August
-
Friday 8 August
-
Friday 15 August
-
Friday 22 August
-
Friday 29 August
Just head towards Pier Approach, park yourself on the promenade or the beach, and get ready for 10 minutes of colourful chaos overhead. Ideal for a seaside picnic, an ice cream with a view, or just standing slack-jawed and loving every second of it.
What to Expect
Each show kicks off at 10pm, with the fireworks launched from just off the beach near the pier. Expect a classic seaside mix of sparkling bursts, sky-filling crackles, and a few jaw-dropping finales that’ll make your chips go cold — but it’s worth it.
Whether you’re five or ninety-five, this is the kind of event that makes a summer Friday feel like a proper occasion. Just bring your deckchair, a good attitude and possibly a jumper — this is the British coast, after all.
Make a Night of It
The fireworks might be the main event, but Bournemouth’s got more to offer than just the bangs. Why not:
-
Grab some fish and chips before the show (it’s the law)
-
Book a cocktail bar table overlooking the pier
-
Stroll the promenade with a 99 in hand
-
Or just plonk yourself on the beach with a flask and a fold-up chair
Whatever your vibe, the fireworks give you the perfect excuse to turn a regular Friday into something a bit special.
Getting to Bournemouth Pier
By Car:
There are plenty of car parks nearby, including Bath Road South, Bath Hill, and Beacon Road. But be warned — they fill up fast on fireworks nights, so aim to arrive early or risk driving in circles while the first rockets go off without you.
By Train or Bus:
Bournemouth Station is just a 15-minute walk to the pier. Or hop on a local bus from the town centre if your legs are still recovering from the beach day.
By Bike:
There are dedicated cycle routes and plenty of bike racks near Pier Approach. Just remember to bring lights for the ride home — nothing ruins the magic quite like a fine for no rear reflector.
Insider Tips for a Cracking Night
-
Arrive Early: The best spots go quickly — especially if you want beach views without someone’s inflatable flamingo in your face.
-
Bring Seating: Folding chairs or a blanket will save your legs and make it feel like a mini festival (but with less mud and more seagulls).
-
Layer Up: Even in August, coastal evenings can bite. Don’t let a chilly breeze ruin your night.
-
Sort Your Snacks: Queues can get long after 9pm, so stock up in advance or make a dinner booking before the show.
-
Check the Forecast: While the show must go on, a waterproof jacket might be your best friend.
