BLANES FIREWORK EVENT 2019

BLANES FIREWORK EVENT 2019

WHAT: BLANES FIREWORK EVENT 2019
WHY: INTERNATIONAL FIREWORK COMPETITION
WHEN: TUESDAY 23RD JULY – SATURDAY 27TH JULY 2019
WHERE: SA PALOMERA, BLANES
COST: FREE

This event marks the 49th edition of the competition and is always held during the Festa Major de Santa Anna which is an 8-day celebration held for the Patron Saint of Blanes.

Blanes is on the Costa Brava of Spain which boasts a year-round mild and comfortable climate with 4 kilometres of wide sandy beaches and is a great place for a family holiday.

Blanes is a busy fishing port which lands and sells around €1 million worth of seafood and fish every month which of course means that the fish caught daily are renowned for the excellent quality and value for money, even at the more expensive restaurants around.

Competing this year alongside representatives from different areas around Spain are teams from Romania and Italy. However, they all have their work cut out as the 2018 champions were invited back once again – bear in mind that they also won in 2016 and 2017 as well as previous wins.

I have to say though that the 2018 display was absolutely stunning and clearly this team are head and shoulders above the rest of them. Check it out:

However, this year, they are taking on the might of Pirotechnic Zaragozana who have taken on some of the best in the world over the years so it will be exciting to see.

Records show crowds attending this event number around a quarter of a million so expect to be delayed if you are going along by car etc but the local authorities recommend that you take public or pre-organised transport to the event to avoid unnecessary delays.

Here are the teams:

23rd July 2019 Hermanos Ferrandez Spain

24th July 2019 Pirotechnia Poleggi Italy

25th July 2019 Pirotechnia Valencia Spain

26th July 2019 Pirotechnia Temexson Romania

27th July 2019 Pirotechnia Zaragozana Spain

So if you are planning your holidays and are visiting the Costa Brava, why not gewt along with your family and see for yourself first hand some of the world’s finest professional firework display teams at work. The pyro is set up on Sa Palomera, a beautiful rocky outcrop where the teams will utilise both aerial and aquatic shells. The show starts at 10.30 so get along and pick your viewing spot.

Of course, throughout the course of the event, there will be plenty of Spanish tradition with their procession, brass bands, bull runs, bullfights, and open-air dances.

Enjoy!
