Blackpool World Fireworks Championship - Get ready for a banger in Blackpool!

Well known for its illuminations that light up the famous Blackpool promenade, first light switch on being the 3rd of September 2021 at 9:30pm, Blackpool will host this year’s world fireworks championships.

With extremely talented technicians from Ireland, Germany, and Russia, this is said to be an elite standard event.

The pyrotechnic geniuses will create a display that fits to their chosen music.

Each show will be performed on a newly installed launch pad over the beach in front of the Blackpool Tower on the following dates:

Saturday 11th September – Russia

Saturday 25th September – Ireland

Saturday 9th October – Germany

Saturday 23rd October – Celebratory firework display and winner’s announcement from Titanium Fireworks.

The event starts at 7:30pm with the first fireworks fired from approximately 8pm.

The event has always been very popular in the past so this year will be no exception. Meaning there will probably be traffic delays arriving and leaving the event. So, people have been warned to take extra care and to use the tramway to travel to the event.

The annual event, organised by Visit Blackpool (the official tourism department at Blackpool Council) will be FREE to the public but there will be various food stands dotted across the promenade where you can make purchases, like hot drinks to warm your cockles on the cold evening or light up toys for the kids.

We look forward to seeing videos of the event and finding out who the winner will be.
